I posted this in the technical section, too, just thought Id broaden my chances for help.I have a 89 240SX with automatic transmission. In order to get the trans to shift, I have to get the RPM's up to around 3000 and let off the gas THEN it shifts. I replaced the filter and fluid and added in some Lucas trans treatment but the problems still there. Is this a common problem with these cars? Ive only had it a few months and it just started this recently. Im new here so please excuse my ignorance if this has been asked before. Also, could the problem be in the torque converter?Thanks-Terry

If you haven't yet resolved your shifting problem I'm sure you'll want to view the Tech forum page involving myself and JR Purser...the thread date is 03/13/2004 and we've both eliminated, what appears to be, the same problem you're having.

I'm not sure what the last replier intended...I PREFER stick, but alas...I bought my car used @ $6K under book and was willing to settle for auto tran. I follow the K.I.S.S. mindset and opted to do just that with this particular problem...my major concern being to get my car shifting properly ASAP. It's beyond me who'd want to involve themselves in all the time, labor, and expense in swapping-out the transmission when there's a simple solution affording immediate satisfaction!?

Good Luck!!!:thumbup

Did you ever end-up resolving your transmission problem? Just curious if you were as successful and happy with the solution as we were.:pface
