How much is a new automatic trans for a 89 240sx? Im going to buy another 240 that is stick, but Im a delivery driver, and the 240 I have is auto and the trans is going, Im thinking of just replacing the trans when it goes and keeping it for delivery and running errands. So how much would a new trans cost, and how hard would it be to put in? Just in case I dont need a new trans I might as well tell you the symptoms. When driving it lags getting into gear, like it revs too high for a auto before it catches, and recently it has been giving me a really low pitched whirring sound (like strong whipping winds) Maybe Ive been burning trans fluid? Im going to chekc my fluid levels tommorow.

thanks for hte help

If you look in the buy/sell/trade you could probably find an auto transmission pretty cheap, sub 200 dollars, because there are quite a few people that do that auto to manual transmission swaps and have the perfectly good auto transmission laying around. Also check http://www.zilvia.net and http://www.northwestnissans.com. Good luck

If a transmission out of a '95 will work in your '89 I'll sell you mine. I've heard it wont work though because of different bellhousings? I'm not sure, but you can try if you want ;)
