Im posting this question to see if any other r50 owners have had this issue? Im at 136k miles i only run 93 gas an do alot of pm to my pathfinder it a 2002 nissan pathfinder se 2wd. Today on the interstate at 75 i was going to pass another car so i got on it 100 throttle an it just rev'd up to about 6300 rpms an did nothing like it wasn't in gear so i let off the gas an slowly got back into it an it was fine. i had the ac on its done this once before about a month ago on my way to work. Its got me stumped fluid looks fine an its at the right level an has a normal kinda sweet smell to it..Any ideas what it could be i would take it to a local shop but really dont trust or know the trans shops around here. Im thinking it could be a sensor or the clutch packs could be going bad. i pulled the codes today an it just had the cat code passager side po430 my freeze frame reads this

fuel sys 1 CL
fuel sys 2 CL
calc load% 38.4
ect (f) 185
stft b1 -2.3
Llift B1 3.9
stft -4.7
lift 1.6
engine rpm 2538
veh speed (mph) 72

Could the cat be going out causing this the cel light has been on for a few years now i get decent gas milege an no loss in power. ill be replacing the cat here soon with in the next few weeks. im just afraid it won't fix the code anyway ive done replaced the passager 02 sensors twice with the oem ones with no luck. ive been told there is a tsb about it for them to raise the paramiters up for the o2 sensors. An to fix the rear o2 sensors from coming on right at start up because of moisture in the exhaust pipe an to turn them on after a few minutes so the exhaust can burn the moister off . Don't know if yall have heard anything like this but any info would help thanks..

Is the fuel filter recent? A restricted fuel filter can cause inability to reach higher RPMs and sluggish acceleration.

Replacement of rear O2 sensors very rarely "fixes" a P0420/P0430 code - your only option to fix that is to replace the cat itself.

From what I've been told by my local dealership, the ECM reprogramming is only required if you have the O2 sensors replaced at the dealer with OEM parts (which are likely an updated part from the factory stuff) and if your current ECM part number matches one listed as eligible for reprogramming in the TSB. If you replace the rear O2 sensor with an aftermarket part and the code doesn't reappear within a few driving cycles, you shouldn't need ECM reprogramming even if the ECM is eligible.

Its been about 35k miles i changed it while doing my 100k maintance. Ive got it along with all the of other stuff setting in the garage im waiting for the rest of the stuff to come in i hope to get to it next weekend. i figure its not something major cause its only done it twice in a month im thinking its a sensor or something minor cause if it was a hard part in the trans or rearend it would do it all the time wouldnt it? i mean i drive it hard sometimes but that little vq loves to rev lol. i know its not no 350z or anything but for a 5k pound suv it has a little spunk about it.. plus 9 out of 10 times i only use oem or better parts an fluid. As for the cat how hard is it to change from what i see its a few bolts im thinking a little pb blaster a few extentions on the old impact an thats it . Do ya think that would fix the code id hate to change it an it still throw the same code..

A new cat will almost certainly solve your P0430 code. If the cat is in bad enough shape, it might even help your lack of acceleration at higher RPMs.

I think you covered the cat replacement procedure. I think you'll need a new gasket or two as well.

New parts look good! Good luck with the work.

Something you may want to try is basically putting a spacer in between your downstream oxygen sensor.

something like this

Thats what I did when I had my p0420 light come on every once in a while (po430 and p0420 are basically the same condition, just different banks). I paid 10 or 13 bucks for 2 and that fixed the light. Its been over a year - possibly 1.5 years without any code at all.

I haven't had any mileage or power problems.

This worked for me. If is probably worth it to see it if works for you, its only 10 bucks.

yeah ill give it a shot thanks for all the info... an yeah i figure since ill already have it all apart i should go ahead an replace the stuff plus ill be painting most of my front suspenion to calipers an mounts ,hubs an backing plates an such(G2 Gloss Black). Than back to the body shop it goes for some more custom body work an when i get it back i will be doing the powervalve screws an pcv valve an painting both the intakes an throttle body as well.
