I have found out that the early D21 has the same block as the 720, What I need to know now is, if the Trans will have the same mounts? I want to turn the 5 speed into an automatic daily driver. I am 80% sure the early D21 has the same frame so most likely the same trani mounts. Can any one help. EFI wireing is no worries as I will be retaining the stock upper setup

As far as I know... the bellhousing may or may not be the same. On top of that, the trans mounts will not be the same. Even if the block to trans connection works, the trans mount will still be different. It does not make the swap impossible, but not extremely easy.

Use a tape measure and check the distance from the bell housing to the mount position. These engines usually different boxes but the boxes come in long and short output shafts. Most of the mount position co-relate to each other. However the actual bolt position differ by some degrees. When an L box is used on a Z engine the gearbox is usually tilted to the left between 12 and 18 degrees and vice versa.
