Anyone know how well the auto trans holds up to HP?

I'm still in the planning stages (looking at 300-350ish HP) and was trying to determine if it's worth swapping the Man Trans into the 240 or if the auto would hold?

It's a S14 if that helps.

The auto transe will hold up just fine to 350WHP. Anyonme who says it won't already had a worn transmission. I suggest you run an additional transmission cooler. They can be purchased for $20 and under.

OUTSTANDING! The trans only has 40k on it. I know IVAN's 240 from phat-k.com is an auto, but wasn't sure how much custom work he had done to his trans. to support the added HP.

Thanks for the reply, WDRacing.

No worries, the stock transmission will work well with boost. Don't listen to the guys saying it won't. Most have no idea what they are talking about.

I'd MUCH prefer an autotrans turbo car.

Gonna suck to pull my manual and swap the auto back in.

Just to be clear, I beleive most of the KA-T cars Ivan has done thus far have been all 5 speed, except his own personal race car: a S14 with a specially modified transmission using Z32 parts.

Auto trannies are faster in the 1/4 mile, but dammit the 5 speed is so much more fun to drive! ...And I bet faster on a road course, as well.

Yea I think I'm going to keep my vert auto. Going to run some light boost on it to make it happy.

Where do I get one and how hard is it to install?

Summitracing.com, ebay, etc.. B&M coolers are great.

I don't think they're too difficult to install.

Here's a generic write-up of how to do an install. Obviously this isn't written on a Nissan, but it gives you the jist of things.
