Auto transmission wont Shift at all

Hello all, I am pretty new to the boards and this is my first post, But over the weekend i replaced the auto-transmission ( i know this is the first problem, auto trans) in my '90 240sx se and i noticed the gear selector on the side would not move freely like the one i removed but never the less i figured it may have just been stuck in neutral. after installing the transmission (8HRS) later, We filled the transmission with fluid and let the car run approx . 20mins. now the car will not go beyond neutral and will not move at all. Someone please help my patience is shot and i am ready to sell it (not really) but, i can not afford to keep putting money into it.
