1991 nissan pu auto transmission 4wd. when at cruising speed rpm's oscillate from about 2250 to 2500 like the torque converter is unlocking. almost like your passing but doesn't actually kickdown a gear. Is there a bad sensor somwhere?help

Sounds like it is in and out of overdrive. Take a look at transmission fluid level. If this is ok take a look at tps setting make sure it is properly adjusted.

I changed the transmission fluid and it is still doing it. Can the tps be improperly adjusted and still not throw an ECC code? Also, are there any replaceable sensors on the transmission that might be causing the problem. Truck has 260,000 original miles.

I have gone back and re read it myself. I cant really see anything wrong with it. However I did paragraph it so the part you dont need to worry about is another paragraph.

I adjusted it in yourquote, have a look. Now follow the link in the first post I made. that was what I was telling you to do. BTW you do not have a brown connector. You have a gray oblong connector coming off your tps that you will be testing on. The connector is actually on a small pigtail off your TPS.

Thanks, I adjusted the TPS. It read .046v before I adjusted it. I adjusted it to .047v just to see if it makes any difference.
