Hey guys, Currently I am planning on rebuilding my engine and turbo charging it. My problem is that my car is equipped with the Automatic transmission. Does anyone have any ideas on strengthen the transmission, or switch it to manual, or whatever that's with reasonable cost to support around 475 to 500 horsepower.

Thx in advance for any feedback. It's a project that will take awhile to do so I'm trying to get all the details needed before the summer when building starts.

I've seent 300ZX Twin Turbos with the auto handle that much power reliably with no modifications to the transmission. If you're looking for added reliability though, get the valve body modified for higher line pressure by Level Ten or another reputable transmission shop and get a supplemental transmission cooler.

for 500hp you will need a stage 10 bullet proof transmission, they cost around 3K, but that would be the cheapest way to handel that much power, swapping a 300ZX transmission will cost more.

I believe there's essentially zero difference between the 240SX and 300ZX auto trannys. Same goes for the other 4spd RWD auto Nissan trannys of those years.

yes the transmission in the 240sx auto and 300zx auto are the same.

300zx auto n/a: 220 hp tt: 300 hp240sx auto n/a: 155

240sx auto trannys should be able to handle approx 275-300peak hp.

this is only a guess but my 97 auto has a ka24de-t running a to4b at 8 psi and ive had no problems as of yet.

I am planning on turboing my auto as well, it's a '95. Have you run into any issues with your computer and management? Do you have a stand-alone or a piggyback or something else? Thanks.

all im using at the moment is a apexi safc,

it can be very effective if properly tunned on a wideband dyno, but if you desire higher whp numbers i would suggest going with a jwt computer upgrade or a stand alone,

i suggest a jgy custom fuelrail with 50lb/hr injectors and a cobra mass air sensor and control it all with a jwt computer, and i would think you are good for 300hp
