:helpOk, I searched and couldn't find information so help is needed and appreciated. Here's the problem:
91 S13. Hard shift between 1st and 2nd gear (mostly when cold).Grinding/chimming noise when RPM's at 3100 (shifting)
I took it for a drive on the highway. At 80mph RPM's are at 3100 and the chimming noise is there. When slowing down from say 85mph, the nise starts when I get to 80 and 3100.
I took it to a local shop and they said I need to rebuild the whole transmission for the low, low price of $995.00:eek:. That seemed a little to much so I took it to AAmco. They said they transmission is fine and has absolutely no problems. The guy said it may be the fan clutch.
I had this replaced in March (Nissan Dealer). So, I'm taking it back to the dealership for an estimate/check up tomorrow and see what they say.
Any ideas on what might be causing this? I took it in because of a humming noise and that's whent Nissan said it was the fan clutch and replaced it. The humming went away. Now, it's there again, but very faint. Could it be that that's all it is? Has anyone else had a problem like this? Does the chimming noise have anything to do with the fan clutch?
Please help,Jorge
