OK here's the problem, when I start up my 95 240 the worst freakin noise comes out of the transmission and then it makes more noise when I rev it up in park and when Im driving down the road. Further info...Its an automatic slushbox with 245K on the clock. I don't know if it's ever been rebuilt or not so I don't know how much of that is OEM miles. The noise is a grinding/rattling noise but there is no slipping or loss of performance short of the performance loss I have from the ungodly high miles and the desperate ned for a full on tuneup. My question is this, would it be the torque converter making the noise or the bands themselves. Also would you guys say this is seriously and absolutely must be fixed now (I'm beyond broke right now) or can it wait a few more weeks until my GI Bill kicks in, I am looking to do a 5 speed swap and plan to do it as soon as I financially can . If anyone on here is in the greater Philly area and can spare the time to actually hear it for yourselves or better yet aid in the repair of the ol girl please email me (my email is in my profile). I am really embarrassed by the noise it makes but if all it is is just high mileage parts making noise and can hold on for me to have the money to fix it then that's what I will do. Oh and this is my only car and I put in between 200 and 250 a week in miles on her.
