My 240 SX is an 89 w/ auto trans. The trans is bad and Im looking for a replacement but the local Nissan guy says only a trans from another 240 maufactured between 7/88-7/90 will fit and wire up. Is there any alternative to this at all?Thanks-Terry

I have an 89 that I put a 91 DOHC transmission in. It worked out just fine but I don't know the production date. Same wires, connectors, etc. Make sure you use the right dipstick though, mine seems a bit off on the fluid level.

not true, they 89&90's transmission's are IDENTICAL to the 91-94 trannies, I can gaurantee it. I have two if you need one by the way, one 91 in KC, and will have one from a 93 in NH, both in great shape

but yeah, will work any 89-94, same gear ratio's and all.

I'm not 100% sure, because the sensors are different, lemme check and get back to you

Hey, I was wondering if you still had the auto transmission you were talking bout'. If so, is it in good shape and how much are you asking?

I believe they made a few changes to the valve body in the S14s.
