Auto transmission died.

I was driving my 93 240 auto Saturday night and the rpm matched my throttle input but there was no fwd motion. I think my tq converter failed. I parked and sat for a few minutes started it again and it would shift twice then the coast to a stop. I bought it home and it wouldn't even move. does it sound the converter or is the transmission shot?
