Auto transmission Compatibility Question

I've been trying to get my mechanic to put in my rebulit auto transmission from my 93 into my 96. He tells me thier not compatible because when he calls the parts company they claim they are diffrent parts. Other shops have told me thier are compatiblity issues becasue the OBDII in the 96 does not allow it to hook up to an older OBD1 transmission. Does anyone have a definative answer or better yet has someone actually done this? PLease let me cars been sitttin for a while. Thanks Dan

Well, I know for sure that if you use the full 93 S13 bellhousing and auto trans in a 95+ you won't have a spot to put the crank position sensor in it. 95+ have the crank position sensor in the bellhousing, unlike the S13. Now I don't know what the difference is in the internals between S13 auto trans and S14 auto trans, so that is another issue in itself.If you were closer I would offer you my S14 auto transmission because I want the damn thing out of my garage.
