I have the option of buying a 95 se auto for a good price. The interior is mint and the exterior is about 95% perfect. The engine is strong. My plan for the car is to build a KA-T. My question is, how hard is it to come across all the parts for a auto to manual swap? I've read all the write ups (years ago and earlier this week). I know it can be done for $200-$500 if you can get your hands on used parts etc. I don't mind paying a little bit more to get my hands on things quicker, and hell i wouldn't even mind paying someone some money to track the parts down for me (extremely busy with 2 jobs). So again how hard is it to come across all the parts listed in the s14 auto to manual write up.....>

5 speed transmission from an S14 (you could try an s13 if you want)
5 speed Driveshaft front and rear sections (this may differ if you have ABS/LSD)
Flywheel (new or resurfaced)
M/T flywheel bolts (A/T bolts are too short)
Clutch Kit (Clutch, Throwout bearing, Pressure Plate, alignment tool)
Shifter assembly (plate, lower rubber boot, upper leather boot, finisher plate)
5 speed Crossmember
Clutch Master cylinder
Clutch Slave cylinder
Clutch hardlines
Clutch rubber line and dampener line (which you may want to remove anyways)
Clutch pedal assembly
5 Speed Brake pedal assembly or a cut brake pedal (automatic pedal is much larger)
Bellhousing bolts for a 5 speed bellhousing (some of the A/T bolts can be reused)
Bolts to hold Pressure Plate to Flywheel (same thread as bolts that hold shifter to transmission, but a tad shorter)

$1100 their parts

but that list is missing something, and when you get down to it like the pigtail off the transmission that plugs into the harness and the ECU, and you're 3 days into this swap, if not more

you wish you paid the $1100.

trust me. unless you have everything down to the detail, and you buy it all, this swap is a pita

Take my advice... If youre working two jobs and you dont have the time to source the parts, youre not going to have time to do the swap.

Finding the complete swap for sale is not hard... check the classifieds on here and on the other sites (craigslist, zilvia, etc.). Check your local junkyards as well.

I would also suggest not buying parts seperately. I paid about 900 for my swap in the end and it takes about 3 days.
If the car is clean enough it is definitely worth it though.

It shouldn't be that hard to find all the parts. I got all mine within a few months and only paid $250 for all my parts. :chuckle:

I've seen the basic parts not including ecu etc. for 300. without clutch. I paid roughly $600 or so after the fact on my hatch.

I paid 325 dollars for my ENTIRE swap.. and did the swap in one day. It took me about two months to piece everything together though minus the ecu because you don't really need it.

lolwut. Have you done it before? The parts can be had for less than 1000 for sure. My s13 swap only put be back about 400 bucks. Me and a friend did his kouki too. He got all the parts for 500-600ish. Just take you're time, deals pop up all the time.

I did mine for around 500ish. I have a stage 3 clutch and b&m short shifter and a spare s14 ka out of the deal also. The s13 pedal works but I would highly recomend gettting the s14 clutch pedal. I just picked mine up in pieces whenever a good deal popped up. I drove 3hrs both ways to pick up the motor and trans set for $250. Time wise I think I could knock one out in a weekend pretty easy now. The first one took a bit more time as I have never really had to do one on a 240 before. I recommend lots of wobble ujoints for your ratchet and if you had ratchet-wrenches they would be your best friend. Oh and lots and lots of beer.

Holy f*** s***, how the f*** you going to take 3 days to do a 5 speed swap. It's like a one day job and thats WITH beer.

the $900 part is possible if you get ZERO deals on the parts, join zilvia and check 5 times a day for parts. withing a month or two you will have what you need.

Some people may not be experienced in a 5-speed swap if it's their first time.. I'm guessing mine will take about 3 days as well.

I did everything by myself and the last day was only an hour or two. The most time consuming parts for me were getting the pilot busing out, getting the transmission on, and getting my master cylinder to pump fluid..

Edit: Oh, and the only thing I'd done around a car before this was change a strut.
