I've tried searching the forum, going in and out of every thread that has to do with the auto to manual conversion and have yet to find a solution to my problem.

I just picked up an s14 that has an auto-manual conversion and for some reason the ignition is kinda finiky.

Whenever I try to start the vehicle in just about every running condition (morning/evenings cold and warm starts) it takes a few tries to get it going.

Picture this situation.. you're in a manual car and you go to crank the ignition without pressing on the clutch pedal

Its not an issue with the charging system.. It's pretty upsurd how sometimes it starts up in 1 try and sometimes 6+

If anyone experienced has any ideas or questions lmk, thanks in advance.

Not sure that this has to do with the swap. Might just be a standard starting problem like the starter going bad. Have it tesed (also check the connections and clean em up)

As for starting the car without hitting the clutch pedal it's probably becasue they removed that switch. It's better off that way and will extend the life of the pivot ball.

I can hear the fuel pump prime but it Doesn't crank at all. Just imagine trying to start your car without the clutch pedal engaged or with the shift lever in gear in an automatic.

test the battery ground wire to the body of the car...its common for the ground to go bad after a while. We had to relocate my buddies ground wire to a new spot on the fender well.if it still doesn't crank post again.

I have a 1995 240sx that we swapped to manual and i have no problems with it starting, i have a brand new Optima Redtop Battery also

^ that was commented on before and it doesn't seem to be a charging system problem since it does start. It could possibly be a wiring or iginition problem, however I am open to other suggestions
