I sold my auto ecu and just relized the auto to 5spd swap doesn't have the 5spd ecu in the "LIST" of parts. Did I f*** up?

Also, Can you use a 5spd manual transmission (lower) harness without any wiring done?

doesnt matter. the auto ecu has no speed limiter. just make sure you go sohc motor > sohc ecu and dohc to dohc

it is very true. i had an auto ecu in my old pig hatch. to my knowledge the current owner still has the auto ecu in it. idle was the same, everything was the same except the auto has no speed cut. don't let anyone tell yo otherwise

yeah theres lots of misinformation about what ecu to use for 5 spd swaps but the truth is you really dont need a 5spd ecu, its just another part you dont have to buy.

yeah the auto ecu will work just as good as the manual. the only problem i heard of is an erratic idle at startup. but i havent done my swap so im not sure on that one lol

The auto ecu doesnt have a Rev limiter. The auto ecu will work just fine, but you can rev like an old school muscle car, till it explodes

i swapped my vert to 5 speed. i kept the auto ecu for the fact that theres no governor. other than that there's been no noticeable differences. if you ask me, i'd prefer to keep the auto ecu. idle is fine, car runs much stronger/healthier than it ever has.

Yes. Yes you can. And it has "better fuels maps". Although no one has ever said more. If someone has access to a dyno and two ecus and a stock single 5spd. I would love to know the actual difference in hp.

this all so very interesting... so what your saying is that i can swap my 5sp ecu for an auto and possibly notice an increase in hp?

i can guarantee you won't notice anything, but if you've ever been on the dyno and hit the speed limiter early you'll appreciate not having one anymore

I'm looking forward to the next dyno day. It would be worth testing it out for SCIENCE!!! Mwahahahaha.

Also if you use a 5 speed lower harness no miss necessary. If you use the auto harness there are a few mods necessary

Nah you cant plug a 5 speed lower harness into the auto engine fuse box....You have to swap the engine bay harness and fuse box, and dash harness. This had my kouki sitting for a while, trying to figure this out. Good luck

it was very simple to make the top work. you just gotta trick it into thinking it's in park at all times i guess. by the passenger side fuse box under the hood, there are 3 plugs. the middle inhibitor switch has several wires coming out of it. i spliced the yellow/brown and green/blue wires together and the top works just fine. there's a write up on here somewhere about this. or take a look at the FSM it explains what those wires are and what actually goes on in the inhibitor plug

Why not?? It gives stock look and functionality, plus you cant start your car in gear....And crash into a house.

haha i've totally done that before with my old saab beater. thing had no lock or w/e, it started without having to hit the clutch. i rarely ever leave my car in gear so the one time i did, i started it and it flew into some bushes lol. luckily there was no tree or anything and it just got a lil scratched. but it was a $500 beater anyway so i didnt care.

but yeah, my 240 starts without the clutch pushed in also, i just did a barebones 5 speed swap. but im in the habit of hittin the clutch anyway even if i dont need it.

Starting your car in gear is ezsauce, leave the clutch relay in if you can though imo or you'll be blowing fuses when you forget.
