If I were to buy an automatic 1995-1998 240SX and bought a 5spd-6spd SR20DET would it be easily swapped in or is there any other difficulties involved?

Heavy throttle has a walk through of the s20 swap with the auto to manual conversion done as well. The main parts you need are the clutch and brake pedal assemblies, clutch master cylinder with the hard line, slave cylinder and a manual driveshaft.

Does the year of the transmission matter? Are they all the same? Will a 93 match up to a 98 engine? Just throwing the years out there. What about ECU problems? I've heard you can modify the auto ECU or totally replace it with a manual one.

well you would use the ECU for the SR, so you shouldn't have any issues. And any year SR should bolt up to any year 240sx, except maybe the s15's which may or may not require a few minor modifictions.

swapping in an s15 trannie i believe will only work with the driveshaft, diff(which has the speed sensor) and axles. I was looking at the swap but it's still pretty pricey and a red top or black top will accept the s15 turbo without so much modification. The six speed isn't worth the trouble in my book. I know everybody will flame back with their opinions but why spend so much cash when you can upgrade a s14 black top and still have money for other items that need addressing. Just my opinion.
