I need to order a shift boot but I need to know what I need to do to make it fit. my car is an automatic car with a manual shift swap. from the pics I've seen, there is no difference in the trim pieces, but maybe someone could shed some light on this for methanks

On the bottom of the trim piece there are 4 black phillips head screws that hold in a circular piece that goes around the auto shifter. Take those out, and you have a piece off a manual. If you order a boot from Nissan it will come with a white trim piece around the bottom that screws in where the old piece came out. If you get an aftermarket boot, you will probably either need that white piece or fab up your own.
