I know the topic of auto to 5spd has been hit plenty of times. Ive searched and even printed out 2 different walk throughs on how to do it. The problem is im kinda nervous about my 240 being a 97 so finding used parts is kinda hard.

From what i understand I would need the actual 97 or 98 transmission in order for everything to go together with no issues with the crank sensor. I was wondering if all of the other parts (lines, driveshaft, flywheel, bolts, pedals, etc.) could be pulled off of any year 240 at a junk yard or would i have to look for s14s? (and would these s14s have to be koukis?) Finding s13s in a junkyard is easy... ive never seen an s14 in one tho...

Thankyou for your help!--Tim--

All S14 should be the same, in regarding to transmission swap. not to sure about the S13 pedals being able to swap but I don't think so. as long as it's from a 95 -98 S14 you should not have any problems. I think!! lol hope this helps a little.

So what your saying is all s13 parts will work with the exception of maybe the pedals? The pedals are no biggie i can buy one or two things new if i have to. Im just not trying to get nickle and dimed to death doing this myself by getting all new parts and its very hard to find an s14 in the junkyards in this area.

So i can go to a junkyard and take everything i need off of a 5spd s13 and it will work with no modification on a 97?

96-98 trannies are the same. All 95 I have seen also have the CAS hole. All other parts should be the same from the s13 (with the exception of the pedals and interior trim and wiring).

Ok thankyou everyone... especially you, nightkid! I believe im using your walkthrough on this to perform the swap myself. I was quoted 1500+ to have it done at a shop but im thinking with directions like these, some elbow grease, and alot of patience to make sure i dont eff up i should be ok on my own.

Ill hit the junkyard this weekend (as long as the snows gone and its not 20 below outside) to grab all the parts i can off of a s13 and ill let you know how it goes... THANX!

i'm not 100% sure but i think s14s with obd2 (97 and up) have to have a 97 transmission because of the CAS? you also HAVE to use a s14 driveshaft and it HAS TO match your car (s14 abs driveshaft and s14 non abs driveshaft). if you use s13 pedals you'll have to make a shim because they don't fit right for some reason. flywheel is the same for all of them.

just finished doing my 5 spd swap and i used an s13 clutch pedal so it will work. only thing is i had to make a spacer type thing so the master cylinder wouldnt slide around and would sit firmly against the firewall. also if you get an s13 clutch pedal, make sure you get an s13 master cylinder. otherwise it wont line up...unless i just got the wrong part to begin with.
