Hey guys, well I am sick of these automatic transmissions. I blew up another one. My question is how hard is it swap out the auto for a 5 speed. I have a '87 Z24 HB. Whats year model 5 speeds will fit the'87. I know with the auto has to come out of '86 or '87. So, I also need a list all the stuff to do the swap. I know the trans, drive shafts, carrier bearing, clutch assembly, pedal assembly, slave cylinder and lines, shifter. and thats all I can think of. I know I am leaving something out, thats why I am coming to you guys. If you could give me the run down on this, I thank you very much.

master cylinder also, best to find a donor truck in a junkyard and snatch it all. Not sure if the brackets are even in an auto for the clutch or the line holes, so tear down a clutch one and get it all. You will need actual clutch and flywheel as auto uses flex plate. So get a donor truck in a junkyard to get everything that touches or bolts up to the transmission clutch cylinders lines etc.

don't know if the KA and Z engines have the same bolt pattern.. Certainly you could use a pre-90 trans though, as the Z24 was available through 89.
