Ok i have a question you guys, whats the easiest way to do an auto swap to manual if i have both complete motors and trannys. should i take the auto transmission and SOHC motor out and drop the manual transmission and SOHC motor one right in? or just take off the auto transmission and put the manual transmission on? which one would be easier or faster? not asking about the actual swap either, just which way you guys would go about it?

hmm but its the same motor, same wiring and everything so it would just be like unbolt and unplug everything and take it out and put the other one in and bolt in and plug everything back in pretty much. except for the other manual transmission stuff of course like the clutch master cylinder and all that stuff. but thanks for your opinion, i might just do the trannys, lets see what everyone else says too

I would swap the trannys with their wiring harnesses. You'll have to swap the pilot bushings in the crank and the flywheels. You'll still need to install the hydraulics and clutch after that. Driveshaft too.

I dont think all this warrants pulling the motor. Yes its a PITA to put the transmission back in but its less hassle than the little surprises you get when pulling a motor.

I know its too late to matter, but after reading the posts on auto to manual swaps, I pulled the engine. It was sooo much easier than the frustrations I read about. Removing the transmission mounting bolts, flywheel, auto bearing was a breeze with everything sitting on the garage floor. I am down to about 3 hours by myself to pull the motor, and about 4 hours to put it back. Zero frustrations and no bleeding.
