The settings are stored in the same place. Your issue sounds like an easy-to-fix one that must not be discussed in this thread. Here's the theory:
The setting for how for down the mirror should go in reverse is relative to the setting for where the mirror is when not in reverse. As such, if you keep your mirrors pretty low to begin with, the adjustment for reverse attempts to go too far, leading to the clicking. To resolve this, you simply need to put the vehicle in reverse, adjust the mirror to where you want it in reverse, and then save your seat memory setting. In a perfect world (one where the mirror knows its position), once you take it out of reverse, the mirror will go back to where it normally is and the issue will be solved. If the mirror does not do that, then you do a bigger issue. At that point you will want to adjust for the normal setting again and save, and you may want to try making and saving both adjustments back and forth in an attempt to get the clicking to stop. The only reason to try repeatedly would be if the number of clicks was reducing each time, which would imply you were probably making progress. If that doesn't work and you don't want to replace the part, you have the option of simply turning off the feature (set the mirror adjustment selector to the center [neither mirror] position).
