My z started running really rough one night, had a bad rattle.Found out was coming from the timing belt, like the auto tensioner.Took everything out to get to it.Timing was right, but the belt was little lose.
The "piston head" for the tensioner,is it suppose to be welded together?
Im not too sure what else it could be?
thanks in advanced.

I assume you are talking about the space between the little tit sticking out and the upper part where your thumb is? If so, no that is not supposed to be welded together, but should be set for 4mm of spacing.

Also, don't use the backing plate for reference on whether the belt is on properly. The reference marks are not correct. You need to count cogs per the FSM in order to know whether the belt is correct.

If you have it down, replace the belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, and studs (get Ramey studs as the stock ones tend to snap).
