Q45A 1990 98000 Kilometers JDMAs long as I drive like I'm going to church all is OK. However, when I plant it and start driving like ya should the thing drops back into 3 rd and stays there till the next day, then we're back to normal again. Anyone got any ideas on what the problem could be?

First check your TCU for codes just as if you would check your ECU. It could be your over drive isn't disengaging or VSS ( Vehicle Speed Sensor). If you don't pull a code off TCU then most likely its something mechanically internal.

The transmission bloke bypassed the ECU with a gadget he sat on his lap with a cable out the window and under the car. He recons that the transmission is ok mechanically as he was able to go through all the gears with his gadget. Then on the other hand he couldn't find anything wrong with the ECU either. I'll try to find someone who is able to check the "SPEED SENSOR" Thanks for the tip PopPop
