Ok so I have no Idea whats going on with this car. it Idles just fine in Park or Neutral, but when it gets put into drive or reverse is sputters out.

background: I bought the car cheap because it had a bad Transmission. I bought a junkyard Trans and swapped it in. While I was at it I did a 120K timing kit, valve gasket kit, coolant bypass, and EGR delete. I put everything back together with the exception of the exhaust.

after a few setbacks like dead battery, I got the car to start and Idle perfectly. but if I press in the brake the car looses RPMs rapidly. and If I put the car in gear it dies instantly. if I pull the vacuum tube out of the back of the balance tube it is able to hold RPMs when I press in the Brake but still dies when going into gear.

this is honestly the weirdest issue Ive ever dealt with with these cars and I have no idea what to do. If this was a manual I could have figured this out. but with a Automatic I have no idea.

Please help!

Sounds like the FICV. It's on the back side of the plenum, drivers side. take it off, and clean it really well with carb cleaner and put it back on. it's a nearly free fix, and a pretty common issue.

Ok. I took it out and cleaned everything... worked good for about 5 minutes. then went back to not working.

I am having the same issue with my 1993 Q45 but it has improved a lot from how it was before. It stalls about once every few days instead of everyday. I replaced the IAC valve, spark plugs, fuel pressure damper, vacuum lines cleaned throttle and MAF sensor and connectors. My fuel pump makes a whirring noice sometimes and there is a vibration coming somewhere around the transmission or engine when the car is in gear idling and when going downhill. I am thinking of replacing the Throttle Position Sensor and Fuel Pump. Any ideas?
