I've begun to realize that my auto is really sluggish in D compared to my 03 G35 sedan or the 07 g35 sedan my dealership uses as a loaner.

Manual mode (with padel shifters) is a different story, but it definitely seems odd to me.

Pay attention to the speedometer before making judgment. From what I heard from many people, the G37 is much more refined than the G35 to the point that you really do not realize that you're going fast until you see how fast you're really going...

I'm at around 1k miles now. The car is still fast, but in drive the shift points are real quick and definitely doesn't feel as quick. maybe it is all in my head, but the exhileration is definitely less.

Driving it in manual is incredibly different.

I'm not knocking the car, I still love it. Just wondering if others have noticed.

I think the auto shifts a little too quickly in regular D mode. That's why I'm always in DS mode. Longer shifts for extra power. I'm not sure though... does anyone know how to get the DS into manual so I can manually just shift using the paddle shifters?

I understand your question correctly, you can use the paddles at any time, if you are in DS then you switch to manual and you *have* to use the paddles to shift. IOW no auto up or down shifts.

I once hit the paddles while in regular D and it down shifted, but I quickly switched back to D by going into DS then back. I was in heavy traffic and didn't have time to "test" that feature out. I'll have to give that a test on my way home...away from traffic.

I don't have paddles on my G37 but I have them on my GTI w/DSG transmission. On mine, if you hold in the + (upshift) paddle for approximately 2 seconds, the mode switches back to 'D'. You might try that.

That did it, if I was in 'D' and hit the paddles, I could go back to 'D' by holding the upshift paddle for a few seconds.

However, if I was in 'DS' then hit the paddles to go into manual, holding the upshift paddle did not put me back into 'DS'.

BTW, 'DS' not only upshifts at higher RPMs, it does the same for downshifts, especially under hard braking giving you some assist from the engine.
