I just returned home from the Chicago Auto Show. This show is the largest in the country with 1,000,000 square feet of cars. Absolutely a great show. Toyota, Jeep and Fiat/Chrysler had areas to drive new vehicles. Ford displayed their new GT and had the high end Mustang on a dyno which they fired up periodically to show the power and speed of the car. Ford, Volvo, Dodge and a couple of other brands had versions of virtual reality of some sort.

Nissan? One version of each class of vans, i.e. NV 2000 and weight classes of the NV Cargo. There was 1 each of the NEW Altima, Maxima and Sentra. The displays included a couple of Jukes and other vehicles. But overall I was very disappointed in what I thought should have been a great opportunity to showcase the brand.

The new Titan was on display (I think earlier in the week was the official unveiling of the truck), but we couldn't sit in one since it was locked.

A friend and I are going to the Kansas City auto show early in March. He is looking to replace an Acura TL coupe. I am hoping Nissan will have something there for him to look at and sit in.

Anyone else been to an auto show this year and if so, what was your opinion of Nissan's showing? I was embarrassed.

I attended the Philly Auto Show a few weeks ago. I was a bit disappointed over previous years. Smaller new car displays, and more "DUB" customized stuff. Think of a large room full of vendors featuring over-stickered, body kit equipped, fart canned japanese cars, hummers, and jeeps with uence uence uence music blaring and strobe lights . All of them trying to get you to provide your email address so they can send you spam and resell your address 20 times to keep it coming. Fortunately the Simeone Foundation (local racecar museum), and a few other antique car clubs, had several nice examples on display to save the show, including each generation Ford GT40.

Not much as far as concept cars on display. Nissan did have most of their cars unlocked, but their lineup was not particularly inspiring. If your friend is looking at new cars and is an enthusiast, as far as sporty sedans, I don't think Nissan much to offer. The CVT FWD Maxima is the closest thing, and it's not very sporty.

For the most important category, brand with the cutest spokesmodels....Fiat/Chrysler won by a big margin. Wow: clingy black mini skirts with spike heels. they looked good. :naughty:

Yeah I haven't been impressed by Nissan's auto shows lately. Ultimately I don't base my vehicle purchasing decisions on their auto show prowess though.

The Chicago show is too big and too crowded and traffic is a nightmare. Thankfully, there's the guarantee of great food and nicer hotels are dirt cheap.

Nissan went with an outdoorsy theme. Were they trying to be Subaru?

Lincoln and Ford got a lot of attention. The talking robot drew in a lot of people.

I was disappointed with Jaguar. Their latest sedans lack interior and exterior design flair.

I went to the Jacksonville show not too long ago. Nissan had a very poor showing. They did have a GTR there but that was about the extent of their showing. I don't remember if they even had any other cars there, but I do remember that their presence was lacking. Ford and Chevy had by far the largest collection of vehicle there.

It's hard to have a good showing when you don't have anything good to show.

Nissan's list of stuff worth my synaptic energy consists of:
Cummins Titan
GT-R

The brand makes 20 models.
I am vaguely not uninterested by two.
At the end of the day, I wouldn't spend money on either (at least, not next to the competition).

I think those numbers say everything that needs to be said.
