I am a future 03/04 G35 owner and was wondering what would be the best auto security alarm to get for it. i'm looking for something that can pretty much do it all. something that has a great range, remote start, looks sleek not bulky (the remote) and even sounds cool from when you arm it to when you disarm it. please, anything will work, whether it is the exact model or just a brand name. there are soo many and i tried researching it but there are just too many alarms that boast their performance. i have seen my local car stores sell these brands: viper, code alarm and crime stopper. Pwweeeeez help me!!! oh yea, i have also seen some alarm packages on the internet with a camera...this is not needed.

Safe remote start for a manual transmission leaves few choices. The Clifford G5 or G5.5 series is the best security and the hardest to defeat IMO but it does not have two way communication yet. If you are getting an automatic transmission, the Clifford Matrix 50.5X (or any directed alarm with SST technology) will have awesome range and is capable of having many additonal sensors and options installed.

Check out CodeAlarm too...they offer lifetime warranty on the the product and they'll pay your deductible if your car gets stolen if installed by a pro.

Clifford Matrix, Viper, and Python are the same models with different names in many cases. Directed is the parent company of many security products but they are all basically the same except for remote technology. Their Clifford G5 or G5.5 product is much different. http://www.directed.com

Most alarm manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty on the BRAIN when professionally installed. Most if not all of the accessories like remotes, siren, sensors, etc typically have a one year warranty. Their deductible payout is probably only good for 12 months.

I'll find the box later today and give you the stipulations on the warranty.

One example. page 10 shows lifetime brain and remote for DEFECTS. 1 year for the rest.http://webappshttp.voxdmz.audi...5.pdf

Warranty card and theft protection info:Theft protection is 3yr and vehicle must be total loss and they only pay your deductible ($100? 500? what is your deductible?)http://webappshttp.voxdmz.audi...0.pdf

Being that you can defeat a Code-Alarm by tearing up the ignition and depressing the override switch or by removing the main power fuse or cutting the main alarm power, I'll pass. At least with the Clifford G5 product, the kills (starter AND ignition on all but the Arrow5) can be wired normally open which means they are still engaged even if no power is present at the alarm brain AND the override button is coded preventing anyone without the code from turning off the alarm.

i think i am gonna go with a viper alarm series due to recommendations on another post. the g5 is really amazing but i fear it's a bit over the top for me. do you know anything about the viper?

Remove one fuse or cut one wire to defeat most Viper models. Many options (sensors, sirens, start, window control, GPS tracking, etc)are available. Same product as Clifford Matrix models.

If you don't want to carry a paging remote or do remote start, I would get the Clifford Concept 450 or Concept 470 (the 450 replacement). Normally open starter killNormally open ignition killFlashing parking lightsBlue l.e.d.Coded valet switch15 sound programmable sirenKeyless entryDual zone impact sensorGlass breakage sensor (microphone)Door protection (hood and trunk protection optional depending upon shop)Waterproof 16 function programmable remotesPersonalized Laptop programming with Cliffnet Wizard$425 installed. The option list is huge.
