oh, i'm pretty sure you just forgot to remove the drive plate bolts

you have to remove the four bolts that bolt to the side of the engine block and to the bottom of the transmission. once you remove those you can remove the little metal plate. under that plate is the four bolts you need to remove, they are torqued to 35 ft/lbs, so they are retty easy to get out, it just takes forever to do this unless you have to people. one to turn the motor over by hadn while the other feels for the bolts and removes them

i just read that post and it is quite undescriptive

these plates im refering to are black and thick metal. each has two bolts securing it to the side of the engine block, and two bolts that hook up to the bottom of the transmission

the metal plate im refering to is secured in by nothing at this point, and its only a cover

the drive plate is attached to the torque converter, but its also bolted to the crankshaft. it has the teeth on the outside of it for the starter to spin.

the torque converter does not need to come off, just the four bolts on that drive plate. just make sure you get those four bolts tight when you bolt it back up, or you will shake them loose as soon as you hit 5000 rpm. i even stripped one, luckally nissan has these bolts on hand and taps are cheap... and loctite... just torque everything correctly, dont do what donny dont does

you will be laying under the car looking up at the transmission. someone will turn the crank around on the engine and you will be laying down there looking in that spot where you took the little metal cover out of. eventually you will see one bolt, i think a 17mm or a 14mm i forgot, but there are four and they bolt the torque converter to the drive plate.

one person has to hold a ratchet on the crank while you loosen those nuts, and they are physically inside the transmission so clearance is real tight, hardly any room for impact wrenches
