Just lazy, most peolpe don't buy a manual here in the US. I would highly recommend the manual, if you're into speed. It weighs less than the auto, and gives a better feel of the car. I know because I have an auto.

What can I say, Maxima's are a well-built car with minimal problems. I bought my Max two years ago with 120k miles on it, and have put 25k miles on it since. The only repairs I have done are front and rear brakes, starter, battery, axles, and O2 sensor. To be honest, there is a forum dedicated specificly to the Maxima. While there is an huge amount of info on that forum, the fact that they make you pay to search, and some of the other things that go on there have turned some people off. Personally, I believe that NICO is more of a community, and one of the best-run forums on the web. All of us here will do our best to answer any questions you may have, or point you in the right direction.

I wanted a manual, but they did not have any at the time on the local lots. At the time, I had a 5sp and it was killing me in traffic. Since then, I have not had to deal with traffic much, so I wish I had held out for a 6sp.

Oh well.

It's really no problem. Still a fun car to drive. Good news is I should have a G35c 6MT by the end of the year

I drove an '05 Maxima 3.5SE auto for a couple days in Atlanta traffic (a rental), both surface and freeway. I Loved it! I thought the gears were absolutely, beautifully matched to the engine. Smooth, smooth shifts at just the right time to keep the power band strong.

Everyone should test drive one.

I test drove a rental last year. I simply could not get over the orange gauges nor the dash.

LOL! Yeah, ugh ugh ugh, HATED the sillyass dash. Fairly comfortable interior otherwise, but pfew - who designed that ugly useless mid-dash console area?
