when i was installing my auto meter temp gauge (electric) everything went fine until i turn the key to see if everything is working and when i did, the temp needle just flow to the other side of the gauge. Now it won't work so i was think i broke it so what can i do, i bought this gauge not to long ago and i think i still have a warranty on it. Do you think they would give me a free replacement, and has anyone has this happen to them before. Any help would be great.

Go to autometer's website http://www.autometer.com/tech_instructions.aspx

Re-read your install a few times until you grasp the concept, check your wiring 2x after you have thoroughly read the instructions.Start her up and give it a go.

It could also be depending on the location you placed the sender, if you grounded everything cleanly (no paint on metal ground points)

As far as I remember they (Autometer the company) do not warranty parts damaged due to improper installation, BUT if you bought them from a local speed shop you *might* be able to get them to do an exchange it, and they claim shipping damage on your broken unit(if its broken) and everyone comes out good

just because the little bulb in the gauge lights up doesn't mean the sender or gauge itself is hooked up correctly, my autometers are two separate circuits for the lighting (controlled via OEM dimmer) and the actual function of the gauge (i.e. water temp)

Sounds like you got something along the lines or a broken gauge, answer some questions first and maybe someone else can chime in a solution:

Where is the temp sender located?

How did you wire the bulb for illumination, and gauge function (which diagram)

What engine?

What gauge model?

sounds like either the something is wrong with the sensor wiring, or the sensor may be the wrong style

did you hook it up to the supplied sensor, or an existing one? If you are using a Nissan sensor it may range way different. And when you peg a meter they usually fall hard out of cal.
