I currently purchased a 98 240SX. The previous owner swapped trannies, but one thing that he left out was the reverse light hook up. This is a problem becauseof the state inspection. I have 15 days to fix this problem. PLease help

I think it has to do with something by the engine bay fuse box. I haven't got mine hooked up yet but at least it will get you to the right direction.

The auto transmission harness won't mate up. You will have to wire in a separate switch to the reverse lights for them to work. I know this because my 97 240 was also a auto->manual swap and this is the only way they would work.

okay....I know where the reverse light switch is at. The only problem is....Where is the auto transmission harness??? What wires do I connect to the two wires that come out of the reverse light switch? Sorry for the ignorance, but I'm new to Nissan... Ive been a honda fan all my life, but when it come to drifting there is replacement for a 240SX

mine was wired by the previous owner from the actual reverse light plugs in the tail lights, ran underneath the carpet, seats, and up to the center console next to the hazard/defrost switch.

Ahhhhh...

It's easy.

On the S14, there are 4 plugs under the hood for the auto - 2 are still used after the swap - They are all located right behind the fuse box.

See here:

The top one has to be jumpered for the car to start. The second one down can be left empty. The third houses the neutral position switch wires, reverse wires, etc...and fourth one is left empty.

So the wiring harness comes from the 3 connector down, leads under the intake manifold, and goes back to the transmission.

Use the black and green wires from the harness and connect to the 2 wires on the switch (it's the front switch on the transmission) - Doesn't matter what you conenct with what, you only completing a circuit.

That's it. Easy.

For instructions with pics, see my transmission swap page...it has a link on it to a wiring page:

The only black wire that i see is the wire comming out of the fuse box to the red plug. On my SR transmission harness plug, there are a couple of greens, no red...I think you used the US harness. I used my SR one...does anyone know?

the s13 has a loom of a couple wires in it coming from the fuse /relay box. gotta have the other half of the plug from the auto. snip the 2 wires wire it together. doesn;t matter which goes to which it's a light. and boom. reverse lights.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one for this. I got another s14, which was badly converted to manaul wihtout using the reverse light. So I don't have the connector to plug it into the 3rd plug down near the fuse box. Could someone tell me which pins (or wire color behind the male connector at the fusebox) from the 3rd connector down correspond to the green and black wires that are supposed to go to the reverse switch on the M/T?Thanks
