auto/manual differentials any differance ?

I have an auto 240 for spare parts I want to weld the diff and put it in my manual one will it work ?

I think the differentials are different only if you have Anti-lock Braking System or not. With the ABS diff the input is 3/4 inch longer and has a sensor ring. The rear half of the driveshaft is shortened by the same 3/4 inch.

If your cars both have ABS or both have no ABS, then its bolt in. Otherwise swap the diff and the rear half of the driveshaft as I did with a 91 hicas ABS diff into 89 open diff without ABS. Then later as I swapped the auto to manual I changed the transmission and front half of the driveshaft.

Short answer...Yes it will work. As long as both are either ABS or Non ABS like stated in the post before mine.
Now welding the dif is not just as simple as popping the cover and welding the gears. There is an art to it...if you get wrong it can come apart at the worst possible time.. I recommend you have someone like Luke at Blue808 weld it up for you. It is only like $60.00 plus shipping for him to do it, and he has not had one failure.
