Where are some good places to get auto loans from? I just got my credit report and I have excellent credit(750 point score) if that matters or not. I thought of Keybank as thats where I have my bank accounts through, but what other places are there to check into to compare rates. I found two nice trucks that I want.....just gotta check into that horrible insurance and get me a loan. :ylsuper

This is the truck that I really want out of the two of them

If your rating is good, then try your local bank. You're best bet may be a Credit Union, but you need a way to get membership.

If you have a 750 Fair Isaacs (FICO), then you'll get top-notch rates. Is the truck at a dealer or private party? If it's private party then like Rex said, try your own bank first and compare rates around town. http://www.lendingtree.com has worked for a lot of people as well.

If it's a dealer, then they should have access to indirect lending sources that you wouldn't have access to otherwise. Chase Manhattan is a great place to finance.

Keep in mind that the older the vehicle is, the higher the rate will be regardless of your FICO score, but you'll still get better rates versus someone with mediocre credit. What year is the truck?

The trucks are 95-97. The two that I'm seriously looking at are a 96(Toyota) and 97(Nissan).

Even with your good credit, you're probably still looking at 9-11% rate. That would be in Indiana, I don't know about NY.

I called Keybank to do their preapproval thing and they said it could take 3-4 hours to find out, but 30 minutes later I got a phone call.....preapproved baby. I got it for 4 years at 9.25%, when the lowest you could get was 8.5% for the amount I wanted to borrow. Called about insurance, not bad at all, so now I just gotta find me a sexy truck and it's mine baby. :D

i just got me a loan through lending tree. It's a tad shy of what I need so I'll be calling them tomorrow to see if they can up it a bit.

try http://www.peoplefirst.com It's who finance my Skyline. They are now capital one aout Finance. I have had NOTHING but GREAT experiences with this place. you go online, and apply. you tell them how much money you want and if the car/truck is new or used and if it is dealer or private party. you pick the term and things like that. then they tell you yes or no and rthere are no fees, no late fees, no nothing. Just great service and easy to work with. I will DEFINITLY use them again in the future.

Once you're approved, they send you out a "blank check" that is valid up to the amount you asked for (or were approved for if less) and then you write it to anybody you please up to the amount approved. that's it.

also, be wary of running your credit too many times, it does diminish the score a little if you have too many inquiries. and if you ever use dealer finance guys, tell them not to shotgun your application to every lender he works with. tell them to only send it to no more than 3 lenders without authorization for more. if they can't approve you with 3 lenders, they suck.

What is good to note, is that your credit rating also ties into the insurance rates that you pay.
