Hey everyone,

I'm STILL looking for my 240, after about 7 months now..

well, that's not exactly true. I've found probably about 5 good deals by now, and I've had to let most of them pass simply because I cant find a good place to get a loan from to buy the car. Here's my problem:

-I'm in school right now (college, I'm 20 years old), and I only work part time/couple hours a week so I can hold down phone bills and whatnot... I make MUCH more money during the summer as an EMT (about $1500-$1700 a month compared to like $200 a month now), but loan officers wont count that as part of my income since technically I'm not working for them right now.

-Most loan places wont give me a loan for the low amount that I need. I only need about $2500 or $3000. A lot of the online places I've seen start their loans at almost $8000.

-Alot of places also wont give you financing if you're buying an older car (older than 95, usually), or one with over 100,000 miles on it.

I'm hoping someone can give me some info on maybe a place that they've found that is good for giving the kinds of loans I need, or maybe some alternative solutions to my problem. I dont care too much about interest rates because I just plan to pay the whole loan off over the summer with my first few paychecks. As long as I dont get swamped with early payoff fees or other fine print type dealies, the loan terms are pretty much flexible with me.

I've heard some people suggest getting a credit card and getting some sort of advance on it, but that sounds sorta shady to me- and I dont know if I have enough credit to get a limit high enough to buy a s13... Anyone have any experience with this?

Nooow I know what you're gonna say. "Why dont you just wait till summer and save up then, instead of getting a loan." Thing is, I cant. I need a car to get to work in, and the car that I used last summer was given to someone else. Somebody out there must have some good information, or a loan hook-up of some sort. Watcha guys got??

ok hey, why don't you do this, first off as for the credit card thing i would stay away from that, cash adv. have really high rates.. you are in school, get a student loan, you should be able to get more than enough that way, and most don't have to be paid back until 6months after you grad... but i would pay it off before if you can, hope this helps

I'm a college student and I went thru the bank and got a loan for the car I have now. The guy at the bank knows us pretty well and I got the loan for the amount of the car, its set to 18months and I make payments of 102.66. Right now I"m looking for a job b/c I get a veteran benefit check every month which pays my car and insurance and 3phone bills (dont ask how I do it lol) My check ends when school is out :(

But I would check with a bank and see if they will give you amount you need and such. My mom went to loan companies on a car and believe me bank way cheaper than loan companies. I dont mess with student loans nor will I ever own a credit card (easy ways to put yourself in debt). Maybe that helps some.... :)

Get mom to co-sign for you. I pay your mom plenty in alimony and child support that she should just give you the $3000!!

or

Take out a student loan. At 4%-7% interests that won't kick in until after graduation (subsidized) it is your best bet. Pay it off this summer and it turns into a free loan.

or

Take out a signature loan at your bank, then again they might not give your broke arse $3000 but it is worth a try (let someone co-sign if they give you trouble).

or

Buy from a shady car lot that will finance anyone at high 15% and up rates and $500 down.
