So I have been re-building a KADE that was from an auto 240sx. I am trying to replace the Automatic Pilot bushing, and replacing it with the manual trans Pilot bushing. I have rented the pilot bushing removal tool from Autozone, but it wont pull that sucker out of there.

My question is, does anybody have any tips for pulling the Pilot bushing out of the back of the engine, besides the tool from Autozone?

If you have a dremel with a metal cutting disc, put a few notches(2,3etc.)into the inner collar it will collapse then you can pull it out.

I always use grease and a steel dowl that fits up tight in the hole. I pound and force grease in the back side of it till it comes out. You have to grease the new one when you put it in anyways. If that no worky cut it out with a dremel like he said. I was doing a clutch on a ranger the other day with 210k I tryed grease but the bushing was original and would not budge so I had to cut it. That was the first one I have ever had to cut out.

I rented that tool also, it is to be used with a slide hammer.
