On a recently purchased 2011 Pathfinder, I found that the auto headlights are on most of the time even on a bright sunny day. If I drive under a very short underpass at highway speeds, they come on in under a second and stay on for a minute before turning off, which is almost about enough time to get to the next underpass where they will turn on again. The same thing happens on back roads when I drive under a tree at normal speeds. This means that the headlights are on 90% of the time.

I have them set to the lowest sensitivity and they behave as described above. On the highest sensitivity, they are stuck on even in the bright sun. Is this normal or is there something wrong with my headlight sensor? I'm asking because this car has been plagued with various electrical problems almost from the day I bought it new, and I have to battle with the dealer on what is normal and what is broken.

Thanks for any insight on this.
