Auto Headlight Question

What is the trick to get the auto lights to go off once you turn the car off. On my previous car I kept the dial on auto for the lights and once I turned the car off the lights went out at once. I read in the manual that they would go off in 45 seconds unless the door was opened then it would take 5 minutes. Well I have turned the car off and waited for all the other lights to go off but the headlights stay on. I know this is gotta be simple so what am I doing wrong.Thanks.

If you set it on Auto on the dial, they will go off in 45 seconds. If they don't, take it back to the dealer. It is longer than you think. Make sure you give it the full 45 seconds. If they still stay on, there is a problem and you need to take it in when you have time.
