Use the automatic for the drag strip and use the manual for drifting.

I dunno that I would say it takes "more skill" but it takes knowing how to do it in an auto vs a manual..

pretty much all OEM autos suck alot compaired to manual....I even have driven manualy shifted auto's (granted it was a toyota) and they suck....waiting for it to get to stall speed is lame, throttle responce always sucks, and most of all if its a stock auto like n the 240's it will almost always be in the wrong gear.

In the end its down to preferance, and while autos do have a slight advange in torque from a standstill, and CAN have faster shift times (if its stock thats not always gonna be true..) nothing beats the feel and control of having a direct manualy operated linkage between the engine and wheels.

In reality, expecialy if its a stock transmission your gonna be faster almost every time in a manual.

Well I won a bid for $5! I just need turbo and all that other bolt on jazz! but for a complete block and head w/internals! fu*k you can't beat that! IDK though, I think I might stick with the auto for now, then buy a manual car later! I don't want to fux with it! I just bought a body kit too, soo!! oh well! drift in the auto I shall!!!!!

One time at my school, some guy bought a 97 teg, and modded it pretty sweet, had a wing and stuff.. but then we looked inside it one day.. and guess what? it was an auto.

Moral of the story: Auto's SUCK!

if you like auto, thats cool too. but I don't have much respect for anyone that wants to drive their car good, and drives an auto. If you wanna be a good driver you gotta know your car, and be able to control it real good. Standards tend to have a bit of an advantage there.

a bunch of people have done the 5spd swap, you could probly do it fairly easy.. just search it

One time i bought an s14 240sx. It was in mint condition and looked beutifiul. Many people thought it was a sick car until they looked inside and saw the auto in it. They Laughed at me repeatedly, and i would hang my head low and drive my car away in shame. One day i decided that I disliked being a gay auto 240 driver and i swapped it out for a manual. Moral of the story Auto = gay.

AND please never ever say nismo nigga ever again.

most of the time, cheap means rust. at least im my experienses. i found a running 92 hatch for 750 bucks that didnt look too bad...till you took the paint off. bondo like crazy. i fixed it right, but would rather have paid more and not had to deal with the rust ****....$5 sr=****ing scam. and the headache of not having a complete swap, is worse than just buying a good clip... but its your project so have fun

I often wish my vert was a 5-speed, 'cuz that's what I was raised on and I DO want more interaction with my car. Here are a few considerations:Being able to pick your shift points is a big deal. 3rd gear in the auto doesn't do it for me. But be a realist---what do you do while you drive? If your drink won't fit in your aftermarket cupholder, if you smoke, use a cell phone or jack around with an Ipod, you don't have enough hands or attention span to deal with a stick shift. And a freeway commute in stop and go may help you make up your mind real quickly. Think about it before you decide it all comes down to machismo.
