hi , im buying an automatic SOHC this weekend , the kid is taking the automatic transmission off from it so it will bolt right up to my 5 speed transmission thats in my car, (i have an 89 SOHC pig FB 5 speed) my questions are : will the auto engine wire right up to my 5 speed and cars wiring harness? will the new engine bolt right up without any other special plates or parts? what would yu suggest i do to the new motor while its out of the car before puttin it in? im going to have a shop do the installation because i cannot do it myself(i dont have the proper equipment)..any other suggestions just shoot em at me..thanks everyone

the engine should wire up pretty easily, if you check out some auto -> manual conversions that might help. The only difference is some sensors on the transmission (plus the automatic has lost more wires on it's transmission).

You will need the 5 speed metal transmission gasket/spacer thing if you don't have it already, the auto one is different. Also, the flywheels are very different if you don't have that.

I would suggest you replace the clutch while you are down there if the clutch is old, and clean out your engine bay a lot.

Take the metal spacer plate off your old engine. The pilot bushing will also have to be changed from the auto engine so it will work with your manual trans. The wiring harness is the same, no problem there.
