I couldn't find the exact answer, but will a automatic 240sx ecu, and harness work in a 5-speed 240sx without any modifications?

I have an 89' and I'm putting a ka24de in it, and I need a s13 dohc ecu and harness! Theres one I can get free, but it's in an automatic!

Thanks!

I'd put money on it that it will not work for you.

Wait out for a 5spd ECU

So an ECU out of an automatic will not work on a 5-speed?

I thought it would. I remember reading that someone did an auto to manual swap, and he didn't have to change out the ECU.

Well I know for a fact with my F-Bod its not possible, you'll have an auto ECO wanting to shift gears in the auto transmission at certain rpms and to me it'll just be fuct.

Get a 5spd ECU, why bother riskin it?

95% sure it does work. You cannot go from a manual to an auto, but auto to manual works to the best of my knowledge.

dont quote me, but i remember reading something like that before.

yes you can use an auto ecu, but people have had idling problems when doing this.

I have an auto ECU on my 5-speed car (my 5-speed one took a dump evidently)

The idle does jump around a little bit but oh well it still idles.

The harness on the other hand will be missing the gear position sensors and the clutch position sensors.

Also you will always have an error code that points to the A/T comm line with the auto ECU on a 5-speed.

It's cause the 240sx I am taking it off from, just sits behind someones house with a blown rod! He told me I can take parts of the engine if I wanted. I guess I'll just take the distributor and coil, exhaust manifold, intake manifold, and power steering lines. I have a 96' engine I'm putting in my 89'. I have a doch harness for a 5-speed someone gave me, so I guess I'll just run the auto ECU for now. I hope the ideling doesn't become a pain. Thanks!
