Auto down for windows using Intelligent Key

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Anyone had any problems using this feature? It's very handy for opening the front windows for the car to cool down before you get to it. I find that I can unlock the car from a great distance..even greater than 33 ft as mentioned in the manual but to use the auto down feature for the windows as mentioned on pg 3-13, I need to be very close, almost to the point of .. why bother.. I am almost at the car! Any input? Thanks

havent tried it yet, but I will and report in.

I hardly ever used the feature on the G35 so I do not recall the distance needed.

it's like this for all the manufacturers that i've used. i think the fact that it needs a steady connection requires you to be closer.

Going through the book I cannot find a distance spec, but you may want to try replacing the battery and try that to see if that will increase your range.

A good signal is required and it may be a safety feature keeping the windows from going down over a certain distance (lower strength RF signal)

I've used this feature a few times but I don't recall having to be that close...mine usually works the same distance i can unlock my car, but i have the remote start added into my keyfob maybe the signal is better because of that?

I looked every where for the distance. The book, tech manual and even the service does not state the distance. Mine works at 36 feet. My remote batteries are brand new.

I called tech support and they said exaclty what Steve stated, but here is more info below.

Low RF, needs less distance for signal and also the computer is problem to be lie this, for safety. It is regulated by a transistor and EEPROM chip on the computer for the Intelligent key system.

I have no other specs sorry. To bad it is not adjustable with a potentiometer for the range. That would be cool. IDEA???

That is an interesting concept but per design the system reduces any possibility of false activation the work involved in altering this would not warrant the return.

With a fully charged battery the range is usually enough to suit the needs of the few people who actually use this feature.

Thanks for all your input.. It seems that the locking function has a greater range than the unlock feature and I was wondering why the auto down function wouldn't work from the same range. It appears to be a safety issue that you can't unlock your car unless you are close enough to see that there are no baddies hanging around. The windows did roll down if I was close enough to unlock the car.. around 30 ft.

I just tried mine and both work at the same distance 36 feet. It could be the programming software? Strength of the batteries? Not sure.

I love the remote auto down feature as I want to let some hot air out before my daughter enters a piping hot car.

As someone mentioned I think it is a safety measure that it wants you to be close enough to make sure no bad guys are luring around. I've tried this many times myself that the unlocking feature works much further than the remote auto down feature.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update. I tried this 30 times and my auto window feature works the exact same distance as the unlock/lock feature at 35.8 feet.

Maybe since the dealer update my ECM it is different. SHHHHH don't tell. I don't mind the distance. I will never go that far to use it anyway for safety.

Did you make sure all the doors were unlocked when holding the unlock button? I think they need to be unlocked before you use the function(experienced when i had a 328)
