Anyone know if there's an option to change the automatic door unlock feature to unlock the doors when the transmission is place in park, instead of the default setting of unlocking the doors when the engine is turned off?

Here's the instructions I've seen:

To deactivate or activate the automatic door lock system, perform the following procedure:

1. Close all doors.
2. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
3. Within 20 seconds of performing Step 2, push and hold the power door lock switch to the LOCK position for more than 5 seconds.
4. When activated, the hazard indicator will flash twice. When deactivated, the hazard indicator will flash once.
- When the automatic door lock system is deactivated, the doors do not lock automatically at 15mph.

To deactivate or activate the automatic door unlock system, perform the following procedure:

1. Close all doors.
2. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
3. Within 20 seconds of performing Step 2, push and hold the power door lock switch to the UNLOCK position for more than 5 seconds.
4. When activated, the hazard indicator will flash twice. When deactivated, the hazard indicator will flash once.
- When the automatic door unlock system is deactivated, the doors do not unlock when the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position.

Turns our this CAN be done.. For anyone who searches this topic, here are the details:

AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK FUNCTION (LOCK OPERATION)
The interlock door lock function is the function that locks all doors linked with the vehicle speed or shift position. It has 2 types as per the following items.
Vehicle Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock
*
All doors are locked when the vehicle speed reaches 24 km/h (15 MPH) or more.
BCM outputs the lock signal to all door lock actuators when it detects that the ignition switch is turned ON, all
doors are closed and the vehicle speed received from the combination meter. via CAN communication
becomes 24 km/h (15 MPH) or more.
P Range Interlock Door Lock

All doors are locked when shifting the selector lever from the P position to any position other than the P position.
BCM outputs the lock signal to all door lock actuators when it detects that the ignition switch is in the ON position and the shift signal received from the TCM via CAN communication is shifted from the P position to any
position other than the P position.
Setting change of Automatic Door Lock/Unlock Function
The lock operation setting of the automatic door lock/unlock function can be changed.
With CONSULT-III
Refer to DLK-32, "INTELLIGENT KEY : CONSULT-III Function (BCM - INTELLIGENT KEY)".
Without CONSULT- III
The automatic door lock function ON/OFF can be switched by performing the following operation.
1. Close all doors (door switch OFF)
2. Turn ignition switch ON
3. Press and hold the door lock and unlock switch for 5 seconds or more in the “LOCK” direction within 20
seconds after turning the ignition switch ON.
4. The switch is complete when the hazard lamp blinks.
AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK FUNCTION (UNLOCK OPERATION)
The automatic door lock/unlock function is the function that unlocks all doors linked with the key position or
shift position. It has 2 types as per the following items.
IGN OFF Interlock Door Unlock
*
All doors are unlocked when the power supply position is changed from ON to OFF.
BCM outputs the unlock signal to all door lock actuators when it detects that the power supply position is
changed from ignition switch ON to OFF.
P Range Interlock Door Unlock

All doors are unlocked when shifting the selector lever from any position other than the P to P positions.
BCM outputs the unlock signal to all door lock actuators when it detects that the ignition switch is in the ON
position and the shift signal received from TCM via CAN communication is shifted from any position other than
the P to P positions.

Setting change of Automatic Door Lock/Unlock Function
The unlock operation setting of the automatic door lock/unlock function can be changed.

The automatic door lock/unlock function ON/OFF can be switched by performing the following operation.
1. Close all doors (door switch OFF)
2. Turn ignition switch ON
3. Press and hold the door lock and unlock switch for 5 seconds or more in the “UNLOCK” direction within 20

Is this for all M's or for 2011 and newer?

I believe this applies to other Infiniti models too. Problem is that it's not working properly for me:

I can't get it to switch between "Ignition on/off lock-unlock" to "Shift based lock-unlock." ...If you follow the instructions above, by holding the lock-unlock switch for 5 seconds after turning the car on, it either turns off the auto-lock feature altogether, or sets it for ING-mode. But "P Range Interlock Door Lock-Unlock" is not available for some reason..

Hoping someone can tell me what I'm missing...

The 06-08' M's cannot do this at all if I'm not mistaken. Is this true?

I think you are interpreting it incorrectly.

The instructions are for turning the auto lock and unlock functions on or off and not swtching between speed sensitive or shift lever operation.

With CONSULT the dealer can:
1. Turn auto lock on or off. Can have off, auto lock, auto unlock, or both automatic.
2. Set auto lock on with EITHER speed sensing OR shift lever moving out of P
3. Set auto unlock for EITHER all doors unlock when IGN off, OR all doors unlock when shifting to P, or driver side door unlock when IGN off, OR driver side door unlock when shifting to P.

+-Has anyone tried the manual procedure laid out in the first post?
I have no idea what it will do but I am curious.

I actually think the cut point for auto locking doors is 2010, so anything newer would have the function.

The first thing I did to my G was change that. I like it much better when shifting into park the doors unlock.

To the best of my knowledge the dealer computer (Consult III) is the only way to access this setting buried deep within the body control module.

Steve,

Has anyone attempted to access this feature in the 06-09' M's with the Consult III??

There is no option in there for it.
Sorry.

I'll try to find a picture of what is there.

~Edit! Just went through four years of manuals and none of the '10 and older models do not have a work support function. I really thought the '10 did it...I will have to double check.

I guess we would just have to say 2011(Y51) and newer are the only ones that have that option, until we can prove this.

I tried the manual procedure twice today and all I managed to get it to do was turn in ACC mode.
