Well, this might sound like a GOOD thing, but apparently one of the mechanics who were poking around my car the past 2 month revitalized the auto door lock. Not the auto door lock FUNCTION, just the automatically locking of the doors whenever it felt like it!!

The doors lock if I am in or out of the car, and whenever it feels like it!! Even after 3 days sitting, I can come back and find the doors locked!!!

I almost had a heart attack when I stopped for gas and realized I had left my keys in the car as I turned for the pumps...

There is a cigarette pack sized black plastic box under the ECU on the 240SX SE LE model I have. It has a caveat: "DO NOT DROP!!"

Now I can imagine what they were warning about!!

I would go though and check for any loose wires that could just be shorting out. It might help fix it or just take it back to the shop and tell them to fix it because they screwed it up.

door lock timerProbalby one of the relays is closed, locking the door automatically. You can try checking the box, or removing the actuator harness on each door

Thanks. I went to the FSB and saw the 'door lock timer' and searched the forum on those terms and I am back on trach.

I did not know what it was called!!

I had two in my stash downstairs (early and late one) and I R&R'ed the DLT.

Because it sits behind the ECU, I had to disconnect the ECU so I could remove the ECU from its mount . . .

Well, after I got everything connected, the car would not start !!

Quick check and I found I did not tighten the bolt that fastens the harness to the ECU. I though I had ti9ghtened enough, but there were at least 2 more full turns until it got tight. Then the car started perfectly. Live and learn...

I was calling it an automatic door lock, because that's how my Cobalt SS works, automatically. Key on, engine running, shift from Park to Drive and the doors lock. Shift it back into Park and the doors unlock. Automatically.

With the name 'door lock timer' I can imagine that it will lock the doors after a period (timer) while driving, but will it unlock the doors when I go into Park??

This is just another issue to consider for the auto to 5 spd swao.

Again, thanks for giving me the name that I should have been using.

Drats, that wasn't it. It is still acting squirrelly.

Can I just disconnect the door lock timer?? If I do, will my passenger side door still unlock and lock when I lock the drive door with a key??

No.You will loose power locks if you disconnect the door lock timer.

I am having problems too. I will install an aftermarket door lock instead. The OEM one is waay too much hassle to work with. Will be easier to wire to an alarm

pr240sx, what do you mean by ' one of the relays '? And 'actuator harness' ?

Thank you.

Open up the door lock timer

You will see 2 relays soldered to the boardOne is for locking the other one to unlock.

The actuator harness inside the door, conects to the power lock actuator

Hope this helps!!
