Is there a way to get your doors to lock automatically while you're in the car?

My prior cars had that feature such that when you either put it in drive or after you started to drive the doors would lock by themselves and then unlock when you put in park (or turned off the engine). The G37 doesn't seem to have that feature or I can't seem to figure out how to activate it.

I expected that to be hiding in one of the Settings menus (like Comfort/Convenience) but I didn't find it.

I couldn't find it in my G37, along with the steering wheel lift on exit and seat moving back on exit.

If the vehicle is not equipped with it from the factory, it can always be added in aftermarket. I would take a electronic latching relay and trigger it with the shifter. When you take it out of gear the relay would receive a signal to tell it to send a pulse to your lock wire. When the shifter is put back in park the relay would lose that signal which would tell it to send out another pulse to your unlock wire. Any competent audio shop should be able to accomplish this. If not, I can send you the parts and tell you how to wire it.

Because that feature doesn't exist on the G37 Manual states "sedan", IIRC.

Thanks.

Odd that they wouldn't include it on the G37

I'm actually glad they didn't include auto-door locks. That feature is so annoying. I hate it.

Some like automatic locks. Others don't.

As soon as I get in, I lock the doors. Then, I start the car, put on my seat belt, put it in gear and take off. Locking the doors won't stop the bad guys, but it will slow them down enough to give me a chance to escape. For me, automatic locking is a moot point; the doors are already locked before any automatic system would activate.

I do think automatic unlocking is a bad idea. The last thing you want when you stop, shift to neutral or shut off the engine is for the doors to unlock and leave you open to the world.
