Hello,

As some of you know, I changed my front driveshaft just recently...

Compared to last year. When I started my car in -20'C, sometimes the 4wd engaged light would come on and wouldn't go off until warm.

But for the last few days, it's only been -8'C, no 4wd engage light....but it's binding, so I know 4wd is engaged. Any ideas? Maybe the driveshaft they installed was faulty?

Thx,Vincent L.

As far as the 4WD engaged light coming on in extreme cold weather and not turning off until it warms up / drives a short distance, that's normal and is outlined in the owners manual.

Does the 4WD disengage after driving a short distance? If it does, I think that's normal. I think mine does the same thing when it's below freezing. After you've just had work done to the 4WD, you're probably looking a little closer at the operation of it and are noticing things you didn't pay attention to before.

Yeah, it does.

With the 40cm of snow that was just dumped in Ontario...the ATTESA system worked well. Sure I was sliding all over the place, but unlike most people, I made it so!! =)

Up hills, 4wd sliding, rear LSD working hard...in the end, never got stuck =) I pity the poor sucker in a 5 series BMW that was trying to get moving on a flat road

Oh well, helped push him out though. 2wd cars should be banned for Ontario from this reason alone!!

Boy did I fall all over in love with my car today!!

Yea, me too. Gotta love it.I put 4 snows on my Pathy this winter as well, and boy, does that ever make a difference. I actually enjoyed going out this afternoon and driving around in 3 feet of snow. I couldn't be stopped. I was pulling away from green lights as if the roads were dry, while all those crappy Chevy Cavaliers and such with their all season radials were standing still, or getting stuck in snowdrifts. I was laughing the whole time.As for the 4wd lights and stuff, I have the same thing happening on cold mornings. Doesn't worry me a bit, and it doesn't seem to hurt the truck.More snow tonight folks. Where the heck is global warming when you need it? Al Gore is wrong.Go Sens. Leafs suck.

The jealously of all those 2wd nuts. Muhaha!!

I have all season snow tires (Good year fortera tripletreds) on. I'm very surprised the tire never caught on. It really is "all season snow tires". 3 treads, one for ICE, one for SNOW, and the shoulder is for dry track, reinforced ribbed shoulder, harder compound. I get a slight decrease in fuel mileage, but I only dive 6000km/yr, 8 months of it are in Ontario, smack dab in the middle of winter =)

The only beef I have with the car is that I don't have traction control. Sometimes it'd be nice to have it...like sliding down an icy hill where the handbrake won't do you any good. That adaptive radar cruise control would have been nice, but missed that by 2 years too.

Environmentalists may hate my SUV for its pollution. Now they hate me for my stress-free happy go-lucky peaceful winter driving. Bring on the snow!! Less traffic for the rest of us to deal with.

We got dumped on in Chicago Saturday night too. Everytime it snows, I love my truck even more! It's awesome to never be afraid or shy away from where you're going because you don't want to get stuck in the snow... The truck is unstoppable!
