auto and manual driveshaft

is the auto driveshaft the same as a manual driveshaft. I have a j30 vlsd and want to intsall in my s14 but i want to do it with an abs driveshaft so it fits right. I found an abs driveshaft from an s14 but its from an auto, any differance?

the rear half is the same, the front half is different. but i had no problem using my non abs driveshaft...

I'd like some more info on this as well, before I buy this non-ABS ds for my ABS-equipped car.

greg, you don't have ABS.

notice that you have three brake lines going to your master cylinder. The ABS units only have two hard lines at the MC. The middle line is generally plugged up.

Anyways, the topic of the post:

The driveshafts can be broken down into two halfs. the center U joint can be disconnected by removing the 4 bolts.

The front half is different from the auto to manual, and the rear half is different from the ABS to the non ABS.

Now, say you have a auto car, but are converting the rear diff to a J30 diff and using its ABS carrier. You managed to find an ABS driveshaft for a manual, so you should be able to disconnect the rear half from your auto driveshaft and mate it to the rear half of the ABS shaft.
