Authorized Service Records

Is there a database that records when scheduled maintenance is performed by Authorized Service Technicians? I was told that a local garage (an Authorized Service Center) could pull up my car by VIN and find out what had been done. This sounds possible, but has anyone heard of it of seen it? I don't have any service records for my car, and would like to know where it stands.

if you go to nissan they can look on the nissan system I forget what it's called, but all the dealers have access to it, alldata used by many independant shops might have a similar chared database?, why didn't you ask this guy for a copy of the history if he has access to it?

Sorry. I didn't say that I was told by a local garage that they could do it. It does make that statement on their WebSite. I just wondered if this was a true statement on their part. It seems, as Myth Busters say, "plausible".
