1995 S14 SE 6 speaker system

OK I just ordered a Pioneer DEH-4600mp deck. its a lower model that still had a ton of cool features. And some Inifinity 6.5cs components.

I came into a little money and instead of selling my car, Imjstu going to make it what I want. So ima bite the bullet and do sub and amp to.

So as of now, to get a taste, I am going to install the deck and teh components up front and wire in teh tweets and put them in the stock location in the A-pillar.

Sooo i need advice on teh rest. Obviously i need something to put in the rear deck lid as well as a 10" sub and small box for the rear. Im not sure what kind of sub, box or speakers to get. Not sure if i have to rewire the silly factory clarion amps or what. Any suggestions would be cool. I dont want crazy pounding base or anything... just smooth, nicely hitting stuff (i think 1 10" is enough). I think the new 50w x 4 deck can power all 4 speakers and then a single amp (maybe 150-200 watts) can push the sub.

What do you think? Thanks for any help!

You are on the right track. For the rear, I would use some Infinity 6.5 coaxial speakers that match the components up front. This will give you tonal balance. For an inexpensive 10, I would HIGHLY recommend the IDQ-10 from Image Dynamics. It will operate in the smallest of sealed enclosures and it's frequency response is lower than that of some 18's!! The price is 170 shipped from sounddomain.com, but that is just one place that has them. For an amp, you will not need more than 250w to power this sub properly. I would recommend MTX for an entry level amp. About any small sealed enclosure for a 10 will work. Thats my 2 cents.

The infinity components, even if they are the reference series(base line), need about 90 watts to sound the way they were made to. What you want to look for when putting a system together is RMS or continuous wattage. Your pioneer deck pushes 50 watts peak. Which means when lightning strikes that radio will push 50 watts x 4. However, RMS wattage on it is about 18 watts. So, as you can see you would be underpowering your components by just running them off the deck. And, instead of hearing the crispness and clarity they can produce, especially at loud volumes, you will hear distortion. Unfortunately, when a speaker plays distortion it slowly wrecks the speaker. My recommendation would be to get a small 2 channel amp specifically for your components. Something pushing 100 watts x 2 @ 4ohms is probably what you would want to look for. I agree with the idea of the infinity coaxials in the rear, but for both these speakers and the sub listen to as many different brands and series as you can. And if you can play the kind of music you like on them. Different subs and speakers respond differently with different music. Once you find one you like and is within you price range, match up the amp you would need from there. Hope this helps some. Any questions just ask.

Well I ended up--after reading and reading and listening-- gettgni the following...

my same deck and 60.5cs components in front and some 6002 reference 2-ways in the rear deck. All these are powered by a 50watt rms x4 @4ohms (all the infinty's are 4 ohm ratings) fosgate amp.

I figured that I can just use this for now and enjoy it. If I want a subwoofer because the rears arent doing anythign for me (which they prolly wont) then I will get one. I will use my 4 channel fosgate for teh rear two speakers AND then brige so I get 200 watts rms @ 2ohms into 1 10' sub as suggested above. Then maybe get another 75watt rm @ 4 ohm 2 channel amp to power the front components...

So what you guys think? Ill be installing it all very soon and keep u updated as to how teh first settup sounds. Thanks for the input!

Well Im in the process of installing everything right now. I will keep everyone updates. Ill try to get a few pics tomorrow.

The infity speakers fuggin rule!! All teh installs of them are perfect. They drop RIGHT in the rear deck with NO mods what so ever. The fronts as well, however the tweets had to be manipulated a little to get a nice fit in the stock A-pillars.

Pics and final install review coming soon!
