hey all, I need to go to the junkyard because I need some new fenders and stuff like that, but I don't know a damned thing about Austin. I will be in town all day tomorrow and Wednesday so if some of you want to hook up and go junkyard hunting with me (aka, show me where the hel I need to go :D) it would be fun.

I also plan on running Lime Creek Road a number of times...

Contact me in this thread or by e-mail or something if any of you are interested...

Would love to tag along, but I have a geographical problem keeping me from being there right now. Plus, I'm not quiet ready to digest fried bacon yet...must wait until wintertime. :)

I can offer one piece of advice - if you're tooling around Austin, watch out for other drivers. Seriously. Lots of accidents in the Austin metro area...I have family in the area, they say the metro area has one of the highest accident rates in the country. Judging from the amount of damaged cars I spotted while I was visiting, I'd say that's probably true.

lol, you hoser, I am not going there because I want to, but because I have to go to a conference thing with my wife. (well I don't actually have to go to the conference, but I am going with her to Austin)

Take off! So I see your little gambit here...you're going to peep for junkyards while the spousal unit is at the conference. Very clever, Keyy-San. She won't mind sitting next to a driveshaft on the way home? :)

Too bad she doesn't have a conference in Philly, I can throw a stone from the Jersey side of the river and hit at least 7 junkyards within a 5 mile span. (yes, my arm is that good.) At least one of them stocks exclusively import parts, too.

lol, that was not directed at you, it was directed at aires :D

you'r post wasn't there when I wrote that :)

EDIT: BTW, does anyone want anything? and Meantime, yes that is exactly what I am doing. I take the wife to Austin, then I root around junkyards all day while she is making pottery or what the hell ever it is she is doing. Best part is, I think she is gonna give me the money to get new fenders and possibly a front bumper :)

Kill two birds with one stone, and have her fashion you a ceramic front end. Think: Adobe Car...good for that baking desert heat, neh? Easy to paint, easy to fix, cheap as dirt.

My sig. other was into the pottery thing for a bit, but all she made me was...some kind of oblong round thing. Ashtray? (I don't smoke, either). Who knows.

lol, actually she isn't going to be making pottery. She is a teacher and this is some conference on how to deal with children that come from poor families or something like that....

Might have to look into that adobe car thing..... :D

Ah, just keep the black front end. The Siamese cat look is cool.
